"I Never Knew You Well" is an upcoming music video by Chameleon. Directed by Finn Rankin and Louis O’Sullivan, this fable depicts various characters with bizarre fantasies. One of these fantasies involves a Fish, so I was tasked with creating a short animation to be shown on an old television.

In the vein of old cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants and Dexter's Laboratory on Nickelodeon, I employed animation staples of the 90s era: vibrant colours, a low frame rate, dynamic character design, and heavy black outlines. Storylines often focused on friendship, adventure, and overcoming challenges. I came up with two characters, Mike and Ernie, who overcome a challenge - the temptation of a fishing hook.

I also included the blue channel bar, something that instantly evokes childhood nostalgia. The final result adds a brief moment of comedic relief to a dark subject matter.
